" we all know and this is what the voice is about"
Your comprehension skills are badly lacking if your reply is any indication of what you perceived from my post. However, good effort considering using only one eye.
As you should know, but seem to ignore, there have been many and varied avenues for consultation, including sadly, the rorted ATSIC. As you should know, that was dismantled after a bill was passed. Not dismantled by John Howard, but bilaterally.Ex-ATSIC chairman faced 380 charges of fraud and deception. Family members had faced 1100-plus charges over the alleged $2million fraud from the Aboriginal Trust.
Labor Opposition announced a few weeks earlier that it would do likewise in government.

    "political disinformation"
There certainly is much of this.
Albanese says it would be a brave government that would ignore the advice of the Voice, then turns around when that wasn't received well by the "chicken littles" and says oh no, it's just a modest change. He wears a t-shirt, openly supporting the 3 steps of Voice, Treaty, Truth. Then argues that treaty will not be the next step. Trust the government to administer another taxpayer-wasting establishment for the betterment of all Australians?

"this whole matter should be entirely a conscience vote."
No. It most certainly should NOT.
Anyone deciding how to vote using a utopian "conscience " vote would be very naive, or just plain dumb. Not only is it disrespectful of the past efforts to make this country what it is today for all Australians, but it is an unintelligent action for decision-making given the uncertainty of the proposal, and the example of how well this UN concept is NOT working in New Zealand.
