if all banks are going to fail, nothing will be better than friends, gold, guns, ammo and stockpiles of food and necessities.
Assuming we are not headed for that kind of catastrophe, spreading your money over more than one bank is clearly reducing the risk compared to leaving it in only one place. As long as the two banks chosen are completely independent of each other, of course.
