I believe we need common sense in
management of water.
For instance most sewage effluent in Australia
is processed to health standards
then pumped into the sea.
On the planet's driest continent.
(The usual suspects point to nutrients and salts
that are not present in rainwater).
This is true.
Here on the Mornington Peninsula
a reclamation scheme
has been running for 10 years.
There has been little or no salt accretion
because it still rains
Farmers still use their dams and bores.
Dissolved salt leaches quickly.
Farmer panels would run our water planning so much better.
The Canberra suits sold water to
Canadian Super boards, and left
the food bowl of Griffith and the Riverina dry.
Pumping inland would cost more than marine discharge
so worth it.
