I do sometimes sympathise with the white male folks because we are living in an era where this cohort is experiencing the rapid decline of status that it has enjoyed for centuries. Previously this group has been at the helm bestowing upon others, such as females and people of other ‘races’ rights as it deemed fit. The power to decide who can vote, who is a citizen, who is to earn what, who should access what services, who should inherit what, who should be considered human, who should be allowed to participate in governance... all these powers have slowly dwindled over decades and we now love in a time where the remaining few privileges are at an accelerated demise. So it’s very normal to see whinging and cussing and all sorts of outcry, the last kicks of a dying horse. And afterwards we will all have to face each other as equals. A homosexual scene on tv will earn the same rebuke and acclaim as a heterosexual one. A person will not earn less simply because of their gender. A person won’t be seen as inferior because they happen to have a certain skin complexion. Bit for now let’s allow the grumbling from this cohort for a while longer as it’s only a natural progression towards slowly accepting that white male privilege is at its sunset days.
