I suspect there's more to the AUKUS agreement than what we are being told.
I wouldn't be surprised one little bit if the UK and particularly the US have agreed as part of the deal, to more comprehensively patrol our neighbourhood (providing greater protection for us) over coming years in view of our alliances and China's far more desperately aggressive moves in the Indo-Pacific.
Furthermore, it seems logical to counterbalance China's posturing, that we may see greater physical presence of American forces (bases) on Australian soil in the near future?
