If the budget could handle an increase in middle class welfare then I am all for it, it is a reward for the taxpayer for the many hard years suffered under an alp govt, howard and Costello understood this and opened the purse strings, they continued to post surpluses (that is a foreign word top you on the left) and could sustain the welfare payments.
the fact that the alp took the national debt from $50 billion in the bank to owing $300 billion meant that something had to give, tough decisions have to be made and abbott will do that!! the fact that the alp thought that they could spend at an abhorrent rate meant that they were not prepared to make the tough decisions.
