if you can see past all the green propaganda
Gunns has more than $1 billion invested in forest assets land and trees. This value is not recognised in the companys current capitalisation.
NTA is $1.61
Gunns hopes to unlock the value in these assets via the Bell Bay Pulp Mill
The mill is critical to maximising the value of our Australian forest resource, taking a substantial proportion of this resource out of the relatively low value and limited base of the commodity woodchip export market.
A market update in respect to the progress of the restructuring initiatives will be provided in late April 2010.
what's not to like about this project
The pulp mill will divert and value-add woodchips
that are currently exported.
NO old growth forests will be used to supply the mill.
The project will create 3500 new jobs in construction and a
further 1600 new permanent jobs for the life of the mill.
It will provide government with an extra $1 billion in
revenue to fund health, education, police and other
community services.
Dioxin levels in the effluent will be at least ten times
lower than American drinking water guidelines.
The nations Chief Scientist has described the mill impact
as likely to be environmentally neutral.
The mill will be greenhouse positive resulting in a reduction
of more than 1.1 million tonnes of carbon
dioxide emissions into the atmosphere each year.
The mill will produce surplus green energy, supplied
into the national electricity grid, replacing other
electricity predominantly derived from coal and gas.
The project has been overwhelmingly supported by
the Tasmanian Parliament and approved by the Federal
Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and
his Department.
here are some very interesting but inconvenient truths ie for the Greens
