I was sitting in a cafe in Dublin, watching a work crew of two guys move methodically down the street. The first guy carefully dug a hole, then the second guy filled it in with the same dirt the first guy had removed. I thought that sort of madness was reserved for new Army recruits. Curiosity got the better of me, so I finished my coffee and went to ask what on earth was going on. The guy leaning on his shovel while the other guy was digging yet another hole gave me this explanation - "Aye, normally we're a crew of three. Mick here digs the hole, then Paddy puts a tree in da hole, then I fill it in!" "So where the hell is Paddy?!" I asked. "Oh, he called in sick this morning."
