there's no denying it, the libs are brilliant

You've got to tip your hat to the Liberal party, on top of all the other taxes imposed on us average peeps in the street, no burden imposed on big business. In fact, they increase the fuel excise levy on all us average tax payers and drivers of cars, while the 5.5 billions in diesel rebate to miners like RIO, BHP et al stay in place. But we respect super profits I guess, and when the Labor part suggested that super profits be taxed were howled down by Abbott and co. I guess any tax levied on companies that make massive profits is unfair (bad for your superannuation was their ad campaign wasn't it?). So we pay instead. And average fuel paying Liberal voters support this because Abbott is being economically responsible, and we've all got to do our bit. How's big business doing their bit? Big business is laughing until they wet their pants.

From today's AFR: "The mining campaign rivalled that run in parallel by the Nationals and the National Farmers Federation. One source said some Nationals were so concerned that the rebate would be touched they were making veiled threats to Liberal backbenchers about destabilising Tony Abbott’s leadership."

Wonder why Libs didn't touch the diesel rebate but up excise on fuel for average Joe? Doesn't make sense given how desperate they are to get us back into surplus?
