the role of media in a democratic society strictly is NOT to be balanced

it's to keep government on it's toes - in a nutshell

"A free, objective, skilled media is an essential component of any democratic society. On the one hand, it provides the information which the polity require to make responsible, informed decisions. On the other, it performs a “checking function” ensuring that elected officials uphold their oaths of office and campaign promises and that they carry out the wishes of the electorate."

Now - note above 'and campaign promises' -------------- this suggests that the media is to watch GOVERMENT CLOSELY - elected opposition sure - but, MOSTLY government -

so - a free media doing it's role in society properly -

will actually be pinging the goverment more that other mobs

so - when the Liberals are in government - responsible media should be grinding on the Liberals more than on Labor and other parties.

Ditto - when Labor hold government - then the media should be grinding on them more than the Libs

this is a very basic supporting block of a democracy

so - scream baby scream -------------

what you lot of bum kissers of morrison and the girls forget is that

it's also YOUR job - all of us - to keep the squeeze on government when they're in ---

we, the great unwashed - have a responsibility between elections -

and no, - it's not to bum kiss scotty, and no, it's not to bring up history of how much worse it would be under Billy -

YOUR job between elections is to grind on scotty and his little band

either you've forgotten that - or you never knew

there're a lot more articles out there on this - a few clicks will bring you a trove
