Why is Biodel going down this path?

Biodel may be a small player in the Pharmer space, but they have vision.
Apparently there are other older fashioned drug pens for the so called same purpose. So why go to the trouble & expense of placing a lyophilized/powder form drug like its competitors onto the market?

Innovation through fulfilling an unmet need(sounds familiar) & also marrying the smarter drug with another smarter innovation for unmet needs Unilife's EzyMix transporter...
Got to luv them apples.
