1. You are mixing up "driving the price down/up" with "lagging" - totally different things. Stock has been listed on ASX for 9-10 yrs -- Nasdaq - 18mths. Aust investors now not so trigger happy as the yanks. I think you will find more aussie investors are sit and hold now than yanks. Very evident by the comparison of trading each day.

These figures are for the 3 mths to end of March 2011.
WHERE ARE THE AUSSIE INSTUTS. NOT INTERESTED!!!
Arbitrage. WHAT HAS ARBITRAGE GOT TO DO WITH SHORTING!!! Do you know how long it takes to convert UNS to UNIS or back - 48 hrs. Take a look at the re-balance each month - has hardly moved the last couple of mths. Trade on NAS 2-3-4 times the ASX - where is the arbitrage???? Recently, who drove the price from 4.20 to 5 then back down to 4.40 (before Crammer). It wasn't the aussie market!!!!!
Spread on the NAS FAR GREATER each day than ASX. 14c on NAS last night - near 2.5c, aus - ASX yesterday 1c. The yanks finished 79c yesterday and we are 78c right now - BIG difference.
Recently who has lifted/dropped the price before the other - the NASDAQ has!!! We follow like little sheep.
Sorry my eyes are open - not closed.
