There is no point putting charging stations at petrol station, it is a waste of space until EV's can fully charge in less than 5 minutes. Shell, BP and co. would be better off building EV charging infrastructure in partnership with shopping centres, motels/hotels, local councils and so on. Margins will be much lower than petrol due to competition, but it's better than nothing.
They will have to completely change their business model within the next 10-15 years to survive. They'd make more money turning the petrol stations into commercial real estate developments than they would putting charging stations in.
