Thousands of investors made huge losses on T2. While the second-tranche Telstra shares were sold for $7.40, they dropped below that level in 2000 as shareholders had to make full payment on the shares. The shares have plummeted in value since that sale.
Mum and dad investors are turning their backs on Telstra, with an overwhelming 74 per cent of people saying they would not participate in any final Telstra sell off (i.e. T3), a NEWS.com.au survey has found.
Stock brokers have a dim view of Telstra. Of 15 brokers surveyed by Thomson Financial this week, just three rate the stock as a buy, according to Consensus data. Nine of the 15 brokers surveyed think the stock should be held, while three think it should be sold.
