I note that article suggest 12 republican senators are open to convicting Trump in a senate trial, my previous estimate was about 6.
Those 12 doesn't include Mitch McConnell who the media has suggest may be in favour and the fact that he has dstanced himself from Trump seems possible, if he did so the few more republicans needed could very well follow.
I would say that if Trump is convicted it's near sure as hell they would vote in favour of barring from holding office ever again
