    re: bargain prices I'm surprised at the extent of the BHP sell off. I didn't think it would go below $28!

    It's obvious that speculators are still active - I wish they would bugger off! The price of copper shot up 12% just after it finished sinking.

    I just read in a Chinese newspaper that the economy grew at 10.3% in the first quarter of this year!

    Not that I believe everything that comes out of that country. But let prices speak for themselves: would iron ore contracts rise by 19% if there was a reduction in demand!?!?!?

    The Chinese are also saying that every 100 Chinese will own 4 cars by 2010(!!!!). That's alot of copper and other commodities (not to mention oil).

    "In the coming five years, China will improve the product line structure of the whole auto industry." Li Gang said during the Fourth China-Germany Hi-tech Dialogue Forum. "We hope, even given that increase, the oil consumption will increase by no more than 50 percent."

    Fifty percent increase in oil consumption in five years time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
