If they're doing it right, those "innovation / labs", should *always* be looking at the market before re-inventing the wheel. FGO is the wheel here, not Google, not Amazon. I guarantee it would be cheaper to buy FGO's platform that it would be to spin up a cross functional agile team - seriously, you're talking millions per year.
Agree thoughtworks couldn't deliver shit off a shovel - but damn they can sell - and that's what it's about: people, not software.
