In Namibia, a government official confirmed to Reuters that the minister of mines and energy, Isak Katali, would likely hold a news conference next week to clarify the matter.
"(The minister) assured us that the new policy will not affect existing mining licenses, existing exclusive prospecting licences or current deposit retention licences," the mining ministry said in a statement.
