The sun is rising and its another brilliant Wednesday morning here in Kingston. Not that we are really appreciating it as sleep is clouding our minds.
We have been playing poker all night, and what a night it has been. It has been a game of chance with money on the table with only a fool thinking that the pool owes him any favours.
So each card was wagered upon based on its own merits, with a double King beating the solitary ace and four twos beating the full house hands down, till the six eights came upon the scene to be rudely trumped by the smiling Joker lying at the bottom of the pack.
And so it was, and so it will always be,that when the money is done and the hands have been revealed, that those who had the winning trumps fail not to cast their open hands on the table with a flourish, for winners are winners and losers are lost, and when all is said and done for the round, it is to be hoped that the the person who held his cards back when all others were played had best have a couple more aces up his sleeve if he did still entertain thoughts of winning when the stakes were high.
But that is sadly the nature of the beast that oft times four aces are bested by a six and a two, and the Joker from the left takes off with the loot.
