DR Congo rebel back in government
Mr Ruberwa quit the government after a massacre in Burundi
The leader of a former rebel group in the Democratic Republic of Congo has said he will return to the government of national unity.
South African President Thabo Mbeki had intervened with Azarias Ruberwa, head of the Rally for Congolese Democracy.
The RCD left the government last month saying the peace process was broken.
Mr Ruberwa said the party was lifting its suspension, following guarantees from mediators that would lead to free and fair elections.
Mr Ruberwa, one of four transitional vice-presidents pulled out of the government after a massacre in neighbouring Burundi. The killing of 160 refugees prompted fears of a return to war in the region.
Mr Mbeki also met President Joseph Kabila and another former rebel leader and signed several bilateral agreements.
