if only it were as simple as that! I am not out to argue with you, the reasoning is correct. imminent collapse of the US economy, dragging the world down with it. Gold thru the roof! Oil likewise.
the only thing wrong with it, is that we've been told this for years. and of course, the recent fall in the Dow etc reinforces this belief. but however, the US$ (the so-called fiat currency because it's supposed to be not worth the paper it's printed on) continues to go from strength to strength.
this is where amory is asking himself uncomfortable questions. for instance, is it true that gold & the dollar are not linked any more? if so, I'll believe it when gold does indeed go thru the 500.
also, which one is more imminent? the much-heralded collapse or a fairly strong rally that'll leave the bears gasping for breath? because on chart, such a rally could be a matter of days away.
amory doesn't profess to know the answers, just asking.
