LNC is not obviously progressing UCG, preferring it seems to focus on diversification of its business into selling coal assets and buying oil and overseas assets.
CNX is not obviously making leaps and bounds with UCG, as I think they are still trying to commission 5 MW reciprocating engines to produce up to 5 MW at Bloodwood Creek.
In taking a base ball bat to Cougar's kneecaps at Kingaroy, the Qld Govt effectively killed the one project that was progressing proven UCG technology to fuel a large commercial power station.
They "took out" the one company confident of succeeding imo ... was it just a random act of state governance to protect the good folk of Kingaroy from an evil corporate entity ... was the Qld Govt profoundly mislead by representation from vested CSG interests ... or was the Qld Govt lashing out with political life force to garner declining support in their heartland and unwittingly in the process crippled a nascent UCG indstry?
It seems investigative journalism is a dead and decaying corpse in the country.
