Conjecture and unsubstantiated stated as if it's fact. However if things don't unfold to eliminate that possibility you can vote against it at the next AGM if you are a shareholder at that point. And if you aren't - well you won't care anyway.
Even better you could write to the board now and clarify what on earth is going on and asking for clarification on the remuneration.
