No sorry, I was 100% wrong and have been corrected. The ASIC reports give the 'complete' picture with total short positions, while the ASX list only gives the transactions of that day, rather than the total. So there is no way to know total short positions until ASIC releases their reports. Makes a lot more sense that way. My bad!
