A couple of points to keep in mind:

I’m relatively new to the game and have decided to focus on the Biotech/Pharmaceuticals Sector, with plans to focus on a specific field once I understand the industry more. I’ve been going through this thread to get an idea of what people are talking about / which fields are providing opportunity – of which VLA was one recommendation

I’ve invested the minimum $500 into VLA (perhaps a little hasty) @ $1.15 yesterday afternoon after reading various threads, news articles and researching the management which appear quite experienced. I have plans to increase this holding if we can break what appears to be a pretty consistent resistance lvl around $1.30

That’s the short term plan if all goes well, however I’d like to get some consensus around everyone’s exit strategy, as I think it’s probably more important – however I’m not sure how to think about it, especially with a long term hold strategy. My initial thoughts are that I could set mine at $0.84 in reaction to last month’s drop, and given my buy in price a 27% loss doesn’t seem terrible? Or would it be better to keep it a little tighter? Does anyone have any hard and fast rules when it comes to setting their stop loss, as in a certain percentage they’re willing to lose on the position before exiting?

Stop loss is really up to you mate. How much loss are you prepared to lock in? It's different for everyone and their comfort level.

You need to know that this is a relatively volatile stock and you can expect big swings due to its speculative nature. It's entire value lies in what people think it may deliver in the future.

Do your research and get advice from diverse sources.
