Those that write options rather than the buyers of calls and puts take the steady money and rarely lose their dough. It is unusual to see a major move just before expiration of contracts, unless it it is to get back to the mean.

Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur is a Jewish holiday season and has a long record of being negative.

One can speculate about the reasons but the record is there.

I am not Jewish so it is just an observation and a "known" in the investment world.
