lol bb - but if you have not realized, but there seem to be record grain crops all over the world these days - which means that the weather for growing the crops has been pretty good

    eg from

    http://www.theland.com.au/news/agriculture/cropping/grains/bumper-wheat-crop-forecast/2672851.aspx

"INTERNATIONAL grain agencies are forecasting world-record wheat production this season but Australian prices should be supported by low stock levels and strong demand from Asia.

The United States Department of Agriculture tipped global wheat production to hit 708.9 million tonnes in 2013 to 2014 in its World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report for September. Last year's global crop was 655 million tonnes.

The forecast for the Australian crop is 24.5 million tonnes, according to the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences, which is a 11 per cent rise year-on-year and in line with the five-year average.

The US is expected to produce 57.54 million tonnes, compared with Europe, which is expected to hit 141 million tonnes.

All major wheat-growing regions are expecting a recovery in yields against last season when they produced considerably less wheat than average because of unfavourable growing conditions in both the northern and southern hemispheres.

Total world wheat supply is expected to comfortably exceed demand, which accounts for why there have been softer international wheat prices. "

frankly it is a waste of time yapping on about crop failures, changing rainfall patterns, when there are record harvests - even the monsoons in asia have been pretty good over the past few years - have you seen how cheap rice is in coles and woolies sometimes - on special - 10kg for $10.

the wheat harvest was a record breaking bumper harvest in west australia - eg from the abc site

West Australian grain farmers have just finished harvesting a record breaking crop.

It's been a remarkable turn-around for many farmers who, at one point, were looking like not having a crop to harvest at all.

So far Western Australian farmers have delivered 15.6 million tonnes of grain to the state's grain handler, Cooperative Bulk Handling, with more grain still expected.

The largest harvest before this season was in 2011 when just over over 15 million tonnes was delivered. .

at the time of writing, not all grain had been delivered - so maybe in the end, it could be about 16m tonnes - compared to the previous record of 15m tonnes
