I am suspect on the fact it was likely known too, don't get me wrong - 100% with you there! They would sure know the share registry numbers changing..
However was to the company needing to file the cleansing notices following substantial holder change notice being given, or were they supposed to troll through the registry daily and see.. that I think is the grey.. possible where the confusion is all from.
Its possible that there's more than 1 parcel that were subject to cleansing too, so impossible to know which parcels were sold at any given time.
I recall First State sold mining tenancies many years ago to QBL for shares - I don't think any external party aside from the holder itself knows what parcel remains in their possession.
