Stash,
there are many ways to view investment.
During the Fml offer for Cre,i too sold a number of FMl and purchased CRE.50% from memory.
I remember selling some of those FMl for 6.7 or so,you could say some of the same ones as i had bought at 9c(when CW no doubt was selling),not that much earlier.
It had nothing to do with my valuation of FML which was just as robust, but an opportunity to collect 20% more in total FML holding,if the takeover went thru, and possibly more if another suitor fronted for CRE in a bidding war.
Now i'm back with FML and with around 20% overall increase in my holding as a result after expenses.
If you are able to find comparable value,on a share basis, then you too can profitably shift your holdings(position yourself)for even greater upside, when it comes.Doing that ENABLES YOU TO TAKE A LOSS if you have to.
Those that lose everything always refuse to take the partial loss when they see things going bad and hang on to the bitter end awaiting for an upturn to cash in for their money back.
Equity investing isn't always about the dollars,it's just as much about holding the best of companies with the resources you have, the dollar value of which bounces around like the breeze.
My worry isn't so much the dollars, but that i'm in the right place.
As always, the best of wishes with your investment decisions.
Understanding why some see it differently,is always helpful in refining what we all do.
while i have faith(and research) that my(and yours,by default)investment in FML will be rewarded, you must KNOW WHY YOUR IN.so you KNOW WHEN TO GET OUT,if a better offer comes along.Oneday it will, just as the sun rises and it rains on my holidays.
DYOR+DYODD strength of conviction comes from knowledge and experience.I have hardly ever heard it said a Casino loses, because they know the odds.Big winners at their tables only bring more punters to be milked.Casino's don't gamble and neither should we,with the right research-and of course a plan/s of action DYOR+DYODD
My sentiment is always buy on FML,because i view it as a short-term buy, longterm buy, hold. It is not a company i would risk totally exiting, for some time as there's too many pots on heat slowly coming to the boil.
