I noticed on BWD's website that a senior guy from Noble in Indonesia (Bill Dixon, experience operating LARGE thermal coal mines in Kalimantan), has been seconded as the interim CEO. There was no corresponding ASX announcement. BWD is a Noble vehicle, with two out of four board members, and most of the management. Noble clearly want to build something substantial. It owns 25% of shares, which increases to 44% in two years with a technical services agreement payable in shares.
One of their more important targets is close to Xstrata's 8mtpa Rolleston coal mine, and has the same kind of coal (Rangal measures coal seams). It is hard to judge the potential size of any of the EPCs because no target JORC has been given.
I guess we will find out in due course! My feeling is that Noble wouldn't have rescued failed Matilda shareholders unless it thought the asset (EPCs in Bowen, Surat etc) were VERY valuable. Let's hope so!
