I dont think the buyback is about stabilising the sp at all
The buyback hasnt been in play for a while now (until fridays purchases) The CDU sp seems to have stabilised at $2 without any support from a buyback.
IMO the 'market' has found this level all on its own, no artificial support in place.
Buyback is a capital management strategy and clearly the company considers that the best thing that it can do with excess capital right now is to buyback its own shares.
The buyback has limits (in terms of how many shares can be purchased in total) and clearly the company is in the best position to decide how its capital should be allocated, despite the opinions of all the armchair experts.
