My mother inlaw raised 4 daughters on her own without any govt benefit apart from a housing commission house in what was the the western part of Sydney(Epping now).
She cleaned for Channel 7 and has the distinction of being the first postwoman in Australia (big write up in Post magazine at the time).
Her willingness just to get on with it eptomises the Aussie spirit imo,and even though she was a Barnados girl she took pride in being as independent as she could.
My point is simply this,lets stop whingeing about how bad things will be and enjoy life as it is now and the opportunities our kids have going into the future.
