I don't necessarily agree with that list.

If we enter a worldwide great depression (which some are predicting) than IMO the only companies that would be worth holding would be WES and WOW.

Worldwide depression implies it can also hit BRIC, in which case commodity prices continue to fall and demand from BHP and RIO drops so their share prices can fall a lot.

More banks can easily fail around the world and result in a run on banks, meaning local bank prices will fall.

But everyone will still need to eat and buy essentials from WOW and WES - people need bread, water, toilet paper, even alcohol sales will likely rise.

IMO WES and WOW are the only true recession/depression proof stocks.
