NO other word available where "this" is and "this" is certainly NOT referring to a person being with the God, but a logos/plan and 1:3 CLEARLY shows that part of that, has been expressed forth from Yehowah by 1:3 and him alone and by himself Isa 44:24, Psa 33:6,9.

So tell me Gum, HOW on earth do they make the word "He" out of "This;" ?????????????

The opener of John, like all stories, takes you way back beyond the beginning, as we know it, into the mind and plans of God etc.
To where, how and by whom it all began and then it goes into, covering what His word means, represents, brings.

All the way through the OT, he has been trying to get his word out there, accepted in and abided in, hence Jesus is raised in it, picks up the banner so to speak, and runs with it.
