Thanks for that. Sorry to air my ignorance, obviously I don't talk to my accountant often enough!

As it happens, I have an investment property, so in my case there is an investment to offset the loss against. Therefore, my case might need to be adjusted to those that have other investments such as investment properties that do actually generate profit / income (or is that also in a different category, because it is income although from an investment? ... it seems I'm getting a bit knotted up here!).

Anyhow, if we need to appologies for 'thread drift', I'm probably the culprit, although with the title of this particular thread I wouldn't worry too much!
