Why don't you move to NZ? They have a National Government (liberal govt in your words) and hey they are selling the last of their state assets 2012 to reduce the NZ$18 Billion govt deficit (comparatively AU $90 Billion deficit based on 1/5th population of Australia).
NOW... listen here mate... I have lived in NZ and have seen massive economic change since 1984 when NZ was a closed economy and now it is one of the most open economies in the world.
How has this effected things? The RICH has become very wealthy (far right wing treasury mates ripping off NZ's assets and fleecing the taxpayer) ALL IN THE NAME OF COMPETIVENESS AND FAR RIGHT FREE MARKET.
So, stop moaning... you australians don't know how GOOD YOU GOT IT.
There is a reason for a LABOUR GOVERNMENT.... it is there to prevent the GREEDY self-interested far right extremes that NZ NATIONAL and AUS LIBERAL governments create.
Think about society as a whole and PAY YOUR FAIR SHARE. Those poor starving families who struggle to feed and clothe their kids need policies to ensure a child who grows up will get a FAIR DEAL.
The TRICKLE DOWN EFFECT DOES NOT WORK. The RICH DON'T SPEND the proportion of what the poor and WORKING CLASS spend.
The fact is AUSSIE has escaped the worst of the GFC and only now when things look shakey do you get scared. Look on the brightside... the rest of the world has been in this situation since 2008.
YOU ARE STILL THE LUCKY COUNTRY.
DONT let selfishness impact on the ideals of a FAIR SOCIETY. LOOK AT NEW ZEALAND.... 2nd bottom in the OECD for CHILD WELFARE. AND NOW 3rd world diseases are appearing in NZ children from poor families.... AND what is the irony of it all? WE have a Prime Minister who was an ex-currency trader and now RIGHT WING leader of a government who has INCREASED its MAJORITY in the 2011 election. NZ is a country who does not care about its children anymore and 1 in 3 elligible voters DID NOT VOTE. WE in NZ have given up.... 28 years of right wing policies from both National and to some extent LABOUR (in the 1980's) have progressively removed all WILL for the population to FIGHT for what it believes in.
