Put it this way theon.... id rather have less money in my pocket and sleep well at night, knowing that the children of our country (be it AUZ or NZ) get a good start in life.

Good Access to Education for all
Good Access to healthcare for all

Education is an asset for any country - people upskill themselves and increase the income for the country as a whole which is the payback for what the country invests in education

Effective healthcare is a preventative measure. In NZ, these 3rd world diseases are a disgrace and now NZ health system is dealing with the end result rather than having spent early on and preventing the costs of these diseases and the increased costs of elimination once they do re-emmerge.

20 years ago - I was a RIGHT WING AS YOU COULD GET. How selfish was that. Its only money. Why?

But I am not trying to say that a FAR LEFT approach is called for either - somewhere in between is the best approach - an approach that limits the extreme effects of both far left and far right is best.

    Children need a fair go.

I laughed at it when someone said the other day... NZ has a "minister" for Racing but it does not have a "minister" for Children.

Shows where the priorities are eh...

But I will say gosh Gillard reminds me of Helen Clark. Why is it that for a woman to be prime minister, that woman has to hide her feminine side? Or maybe neither of them had a had(has) a feminine side...
