    their switching division (half the business) has been pushing to get carriers to use their software to prepare for the take up of Voice over internet. The response from the carriers has been muted, to say the least, since not enough customers have asked for the service....but, if those forecasts of Deloitte's are anywhere close, then the carriers will have to respond. What would you do if you were a carrier...Put in a new network that takes Voip and pacjket data, or convert a packet data network (which they almost all already have) into a voip network using OT's software. The difference in cost is literally billions of dollars.
    The biggest single problem for OT has been waiting for the market to push for Voip, and therefore forcing the carriers to spend money. If Voip is here to stay, which it is, then they gotta buy software from OT or one of their competitors...plenty to go round though.
