My gut feel tells me it's different this time around and I too had my share of Chinese conspiracies. Having read all the various comments I've come to a reasoned conclusion there is minimal risk.

IMO ... our deposit is rare earths which isn't really rare and worth the international condemnation. What the Chinese really want is iron ore and its been an utmost priority to develop a new supply (billions of proven iron reserves in africa) to reduce their reliance on Australia. That's probably what happened with Sundance in Congo and most of the BRI is infrastructure is suited to transport bulk tonnage (iron again)
