In other news, Mallinckrodt coughed up $80 million to acquire Infacare.
This is misleading to say the least.
I don't mind anyone sharing relevant information for the benefit of everyone else. However, if you decide to do this, please share the full picture, not everyone here reads the source of the information, they usually only read what other users post on HC.
Extracting from the announcement that you yourself referred to:
Financial Considerations and Closing
Financial terms of the transaction include an upfront payment of $80 million, with additional payments of up to $345 million dependent on regulatory and sales milestones. Mallinckrodt expects the acquisition to be dilutive to adjusted diluted earnings per share by $0.15 to $0.20 for 2017 and modestly higher in 2018. Guidance on the impact of the acquisition to the company's GAAP15 diluted earnings per share has not been provided due to the inherent difficulty of forecasting the timing or amount of items that would be included in calculating such impact. Subject to customary closing conditions, including the expiration or termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act, the company estimates the transaction will close in the second half of 2017. InfaCare is headquartered in Trevose, Penn.
There is another $345 million that MNK has to cough up if everything goes according to plan (which is exactly what MNK is hoping for).
The financial effect of this deal is to make MNK's finances even more stretched, with its EPS dropping by $0.15 from $0.35 to $0.20 for 2017, a drop of 43%.
----
Thanks @The Yankee for reminding all followers of MSB, how stretched MNK's balance sheet is. A food for thought for everyone who blindly believes that a partnership deal with MNK is just a matter of time kind of formality.

As of the time of this post, the market doesn't seem to believe in the positiveness of this morning's announcement, MSB down by 2%.
