That CoPilot opinion is just as bad as the main stream media reports predicting the end of times.
Anyone in IT knew it would be back to normal within a window of 4 to 72 hours. We've seen things like this before, identified, mitigated and resolved things like this before - this time it just happened to be more organisations simultaneously than is usually the case.
The REAL story here is that large corporates have been skimping on IT costs and not given the budget to IT teams to properly test updates in isolation before pushing into production. They all got away with it for a while, believing they were clever in saving some dollars, but the chicken came home to roost on Friday afternoon and laid a nice big sloppy brown egg on the bean-counters faces.
