agree with most of that (probably all of it) --
I spoke of the pain in the r's with having potentially good PM's - at dreadful times. I think Albanese might be one of those --------- ie. I suspect he 'might' be a good PM - but, I'm of the opinion that - at best, we are in extremely high risk times and at the other end of the scale, we are just plain buggered - too far back in the race etc.. -------- which would be a hell of a waste of a good leader if they are hamstrung by the time in history
anyway - I am not positive - and, that's because of the conditions that I feel the nation is in - debt, lack of industry, poorly educated populace, a truly alarming wealth divide, too many acute crises, and the biggest bogey of them all really - the racing speed of the change of technology
with something like a race on horses - to have any chance - you have to have a well prepared horse, but, you also have to be in the saddle when the race begins - now - Oz is neither
we are terribly prepared
we aren't even in the saddle at all - if we look at America and China - my god -
not only are they in the saddle, on a massively funded animal - they already started the race last week
now, to me - unless Albo actually has afternoon drinks with god and jesus every day - then, I don't think that Labor or Albo can do anything meaningful to get us in the saddle and catch the field
how can Labor? -- we're 40 years behind in education, we haven't got anything remotely like economic zones like China or Europe, we haven't got the culture of investment that the yanks have got, we haven't got the pull like Silicone valley has got and we haven't got the financial clout - nowhere near it.
So, how can we possibly mount up and head out? To prepare for the future, - takes decades of smart and solid thinking and doing --
yet - the future is here - pretty much right now.
We can't even house and feed our people - crikey, if we can't do that - then, how in gods name can we magically come up with a highly educated population who can invent, innovate, build etc. ???
I am open to ideas - but, frankly - -- I think she's over red rover
