I think I am correct in saying that CVY are the cheapest gold miner listed on the ASX if valued per resource ounce so yes I think you are correct this wasn't long term holders Falling on their swords and it definitely wasn't top 20 as volumes were tiny so yes probably day traders trying to turn a quick profit and dumping before the close......idiots!
