Yes it does remind me of rinker. I held rinker too. Bought at $21 and then $15.50 so my average was around $18. Dumped it for $18.70 after the takeover
Same thing with BHP, if its not a takeover target it may itself to a merger or acquisition. Look at QBE it hasn't done anything since 2005, and suddenly two acquisitions and it gaps up heaps. Don't underestimate the mngmt team of BHP. Theres so much blue sky with BHP with olympic dam uranium. Potential earnings from uranium would be up to say 15,000t U308 @ $70/lb USD = over $3billion pre tax revenues. Also add a potential billion dollars coming out of existing contracts in the next 5-6 years.
Shorters must beware of a possible sudden gap up. Mngmt are paid to do something and that is to create wealth.
