Thanks for that link. One thing I'd mention is that even renewables experts have underestimated the drop in capital cost for new renewables. I wonder how much Exxon suffer from confirmation bias in their assessments.

There were some eyebrows raised when it was recently announced that new solar was cheaper than new wind, and both of those are cheaper than new coal now. Same same for battery storage. The Powerwall 2 costs the same as the first model, but sports double the capacity. That's effectively a price drop of 50% in 12 months.
