    Hi WG.

    The BOP is hydraulically operated... pressure is sent to a close port on the ram body and the ram closes.

    Same applies to the open side.

    Seems they may need to check and change out the rams and find the fault that caused the pressure to be placed on the close port which I am suspecting will be something electronic that went wrong at surface.

    Just my 2 bits worth.

    Happy to be corrected.
