BHP nickel project cost blows out to $2.7b
There has been another cost blow-out at BHP Billiton's troubled Ravensthorpe nickel project near the south coast of Western Australia.

BHP says the construction of the laterite nickel operation has also been delayed and the project will not be ready until early 2008.

The cost of building the Ravensthorpe nickel project and expanding a nearby refinery has increased by more than $1 billion to $2.7 billion.

The mining giant has blamed increased costs and the skilled labour shortage.
