the dream of a gas pipeline across the country and making steel nearer the FeO2 mines has been around for decades.
its not feasible economically.
Roberts is merely picking up a stray thought bubble to gain some standing.
Green steel is a worthy project which Forrest is creating diligently. this is indeed feasible and viable with hydrogen and pumped hydro storage.
the country is already heading in the right direction and green steel will likely be achievable in 5 years (guess). and likely to up and running by 2035 (another guess)
this is building the future of industrial sustainability and our future economy.
estimates of energy requirements suggest Aus will need at least triple our current electricity production by 2035 and hydrogen tech is likely to achieve this without significant infrastructure changes. hydrogen will be transportable, able to provide energy locally for fuel and electricity generation. Able to be expanded as required to enable achievement of higher energy production.
