Good old cut and paster that's too stupid to read what he posts.

You've posted an outdated article that shows how effective a renewable system can be. It highlights the fact that KI is a laboratory that has developed technology which is now used in other places. The author points out that KI would benefit greatly from a large energy storage device. Just like the storage that distributors are starting to install now around the country. Who knew ?

That sounds like a big tick for the KI project to me .

If you'd bother to do some reading you would know that the Coober Pedy renewable effort has reduced diesel consumption by 70% annually. 60% for Flinders Island. Both achieved with no energy storage at all. As the data shows, they are regularly directing the excess power to the resistors. That is , they are generating too much power from renewables.

Before too long we'll have storage available for these systems thus enabling them to be even more efficient. An important point to note is that they don't have to build backup systems. The backup already exists and is fully paid for and depreciated.
Because that backup is rarely used, it's useful life has been expended massively. Maintenance costs down. Fuel costs down. Emissions down.

So, in the case of Coober Pedy, that's diesel that has to be carted by truck into central Australia. Or in the cases of the islands, by ship. A very expensive way to make electricity.

We're not talking about coal fired power here. Diesel power stations. Very expensive, require lots of maintenance. have to have multiple generators for redundancy purposes, produce lots of pollution.

Do you have any more articles that demonstrate how well renewables work ?
