The bat theory is misdirection. There is plenty of evidence to warrant a full, unhindered investigation in the lab leak theory but the authorities do not want to go there because of what will be uncovered an this reluctance to look at anything damaging to government and industry is nothing new.
You cannot go through life taking what governments, self-interested individuals/corporate entities and dubious NGO's say at face value. It's a preposterous way to live.
